Every now and then it seems appropriate to expand on a comment by a reader.

Such is the case with the comment by Mary on 7/25/07.  Mary is a 75 year old buyer of a Champion Alton home and if that isn't bad enough, she, according to her comment was also the victim of the contractor she hired to install her home.

First her comment:

"Hello, I was ripped off of all of my life savings by a contractor who installed a Champion Alton home in San Diego, CA.  I have written my first letter to Ron Bailey asking for help with their responsibility for repairs.  I am very scared now and would like to get some advice on dealing properly with Champion homes in AZ.  An attorney is taking care of the contractor for me.

Thank you, from a 75 year old, homeless senior."

Mary, if you wouldn't mind, please elaborate on why you signed off as a 'homeless senior."  Are you not able to stay in your home?  Also, to better inform the readers, would you please advise future buyers as to who your contractor was to that they will be more knowledgeable and can make an informed decision about which contractor not to hire.

First off, if history is an indicator of what to expect from Champion, Mary you are in for a long wait.  That is not to say Champion can't change their ways and respond in a timely manner, however that is highly unlikely.

Ron Bailey seemed like a nice man when we met on the tour of our nightmare home.  He and several other co-workers along with Jay Angus the General Manager toured our home just  (six weeks) after it was set on the foundation.

The obvious problems were written on a punch lish and provided to Champion and it only took five months for Ron Bailey to write a letter stating the repairs were not covered by Champion...sorry.

Mary, given your situation and age, this would seem the perfiect opportunity and time for Ron Bailey and Champion to step up and do the right thin, just don't hold your breath waiting for it to happen.

Mary, when you send a letter(s) to Ron Bailey you should also copy Jay Angus the general Manager at the same address in Arizona.  You might also ask your attorney to look at the Californai Business and Professions code for any violations by Champion.

Mary, please keep us updated on your progress with both the contractor and with Champion.  Good luck on both fronts.
