In the middle of writing the next entry, which describes the installation of a Guerdon Homes modular unit across the street from our Champion nightmare and contrasts the differences, the following comment from a Champion employee appeared. So I have postponed posting the Guerdon/Champion comparison in the interest of this timely comment. I have deleted his name because I have no doubt Champion would terminate him for being so candid and honest! I work for champion homes, and i am sorry for u all having so many
problems with it. It doesn't surprise me at all. i have only worked
there for a couple of years, but i see the type of stuff they do to
these houses every day. i was told my first day i started quanity not
quality. thats all they are worried about gotta get em out the door. to
give u an idea we get wrote up if we are out of our stations and things
arent getting done fast enough. right now we are putting out 18 floors
(1 floor equals 1 section of a double wide) and our group is only
manned to be able to put out about 12 floors a week. last week i had 23
hours of overtime, trying to keep up with all the houses we r doing.
the company doesnt care about the quality nor its employees. so many of
the employees dont care about the work they do. i have seen some messed
up things like 1 house had a leaking roof and over 2 week period it
rained alot it had very bad water damage on the inside along with mold
and what did they do cut out dry wall and "fixed" it. the studs and
rafters should of been replaced but that would cost them more money so
all they did was hide it and called it good. we get inspected by the
state 2 or 3 times a week, but the state calls b4 they come out and you
can tell when they are there cause the foremen are out there checking
the house for inproper wiring, or inproper plumbing and those are the
only days they they care if things are done correctly. any other time
they dont care. the only reason why i am working there is cause its the
only good paying job in the small town i live in. but personally i
would never ever ever buy a champion home or let any one in my family
buy one. they are crap and the way the build em is very cheaply done.
times are changing and the company still thinks its the 70's when they
were called trailers and they still build em like that. but all we
build are houses that r supossed to be just like stick built houses,
just one problem stick built houses are not supposed to be trasported
down the highway. as for the genesis line of house our lead designer
used to work at a gasstaion he has no clue on being an arcatect so i
saw i post about someones house not fitting together properly ha go
figure. in my own opinion if u are wanting to buy a house then have one
built on site and make sure u get inspectors out the as much as
posable, or buy one already built some where but never buy a "modular"
home any way u look at its a trailer thats all and unless u have a
mullet, your 12 yr old is pregnant, and your camaro is your only mode
of transportaion do your self a favor and stay clear of any mobile home
they are all crap and lose their value so fast. and to all of you who
already have one im sorry. i am about the only person who does their
job correctly as for the 150+ people i work with most of em dont give a
crap its not their house!!!! and thats they way it is!!!!
