I'm certain that going forward we are just going to see more and more of this. Our economy has grown for years based on expansion of credit, and debt overall has just exploded. Very similar to the 1920's and the de-leveraging that followed in the 1930's. I'm not predicting an all out depression here, but we will have to go through the same kind of de-leveraging process. It's going to cause more pain, but sadly that is what it's going to take.

Sorry to hear about hard times for those of you at Champion Enterprises. Good luck and keep your spirits up.

Comment on The problems with Champion Genesis just kept showing up...

I can see that you are an expert in this field! I am launching a website soon, and this information is very useful for me. Thanks for all your help and wishing you all the success in your business.

Comment on More Champion Genesis Litigation, Somethings Never Change

We bought a 79 Champion mobile home in 80 and had a lot of trouble with leaks. We have always put snow or other roof sealers on the roof, but it still leaked. One year I noticed that the wall were put up along side the roof, so the roof does not hang over the side at all.
Until this last year when one of the bedroom ceiling collaped did we find out the mobiles roof was not done to code.
Recently I sent a letter to Champion Enterprises Inc. but it was returned. Please reply to this

I am a disable person on a very very low income. I am trying to find out if there is still a law suit going on against Champion or if anyone has any good ideas.

Comment on The problems with Champion Genesis just kept showing up...

Linda,

I hate to ask about this in this forum, as it is off-topic, but are you the same Linda Bone who managed an apartment complex called Esperanza Village? If you are, I need to get ahold of me. Please e-mail me at mike at conway dot org. Thank you.

Comment on More Champion Genesis Litigation, Somethings Never Change

I've been out of the loop for some time as I battle some health isssues. I'm sorry I haven't been readily available to continue this fight, but I'm here now to do just that. I had written to the FTC because we didn't fall into any catagory. They thought our houses were inspected by our state and/or our city governments. They have no power to monitor inspections, nor, in reality, do our local/city governments without a change to the laws. They can tell us what they'll do, but without proof in writing it isn't smart to leave it up to the word of one man in one city. The FTC didn't know the houses were not inspected, except if you consider inspections by a company paid to do so by the builder sufficient, so we didn't fall into any jurisdiction to support us and to prevent this from ever happening to another sad soul that buys one of their homes. The national level seems to be my niche, and I'm asking everyone to contact their local state/city governments to insure these houses are inspected as any other house would be. This is how Champion Genesis Redman Homes bypasses regulations and how they end up being sold in the first place to unsuspecting, trusting people like us. Let's get to our local/state governments and I'll keep pounding the national level until I hear that someone will help us. We can meet back here with results at the end of April 2010 to combine resources. Does this sound like something we can all get behind? In pieces, it can be done. To take this corporation on one at a time isn't possible. Many hands do make light work. Thank you, Mike, for taking so much of your time to put this information out there.

Comment on More Champion Genesis Litigation, Somethings Never Change

Jake,
I only know what I have read, no first hand knowledge. I would suggest you visit the factory to see first hand how the homes are built. While there, ask for a list of recent buyers, going back 2-3 years that you would be able to contact. Follow up with as many as you can, that way you will be able to make a qualified judgment about the product.
Remember, follow up after the delivery and setup is every bit as important as the initial purchase, maybe more so. Don't be afraid to ask the questions, ask too many... not too few.
